“Professional Drivers” is a series of free training sessions organized by Volvo Trucks in collaboration with its partners: Renault Trucks, Wielton, Continental, Ergo Hestia, and MJM. Candidates are individuals interested in starting a career as a driver who already hold a Class C + E driver’s license. The training sessions are conducted by top-tier specialists using equipment provided by the organizers.
As stated on the project’s website, its aim is to “improve road safety and raise public awareness of high-quality transport services as a significant sector of the economy.” This initiative is therefore perfectly aligned with ZET Transport’s policy of continuously improving drivers’ qualifications.
From July 17–20, 2018, we hosted experienced instructors for the second time, who trained nearly 40 participants. The training consisted of theoretical and practical components. It covered topics such as safe, economical, and defensive driving, vehicle maintenance, and first aid. Upon completion of the training, each participant received a “Professional Driver” certificate.
In our opinion, this is a very valuable initiative that addresses the needs of the market. Promoting the profession of a driver is necessary not only because of the difficult situation in the labor market. It is also important to raise awareness of how vital drivers’ work is to everyday life in society. On the other hand, drivers must remember that their work has a significant impact on their surroundings, both on people and on nature. Emphasizing the improvement of skills in economical driving benefits not only the transport company but also leads to safer roads and a cleaner environment. We hope that the project will continue and that next year we will once again be able to invite instructors and candidates interested in a career as a professional driver to Nowy Sącz.
